Charles is, in my opinion, way too generous with this game. The beginning of this game reminds me of AMBER: Journeys Beyond -- static and not so interesting. And things go downhill from there (well, except for the puzzle that appears in the demo).
I concur with most of Charles's comments, though there are certain parts of the game I can't comment on, because, as he says, I gave up. It was too annoying. I was ready to do what he did (that is, get a walkthrough and see how it all panned out), and I did that for a little while--but then I realized how ridiculously long this damn game was. And I even might have put up with that if it weren't for this terribly annoying character you have to interact with. I just couldn't listen to him?/her?/it? any longer. I threw in the towel.
I must admit that the animation is quite nice. And the interface, well, it has good and bad features. I liked the use of insets (close-ups of particular objects that appeared in smaller windows superimposed over the main image), but the cursor is wretched. The game gives you an option to highlight the cursor when it passes over something you can interact with, but the colors it uses when you do this are pale gray (unhighlighted) and white (highlighted). Believe me, you will be hard pressed to spot the difference between the two.
No doubt different people look for different things in a game. This game has almost none of the things I look for, but I suppose if you consider a game that will take you months to solve a good value in terms of cost-to-time-played, then maybe this is the game for you, you cheapskate. But I sure can't recommend this game to anyone else.
