The Legend of Lotus Spring

starhalfstarnostarnostarnostar
Released: 2000 Manufacturer: Dreamcatcher

In Brief:
Technically challenged virtual walking tour with loads of flaws
Puzzle Quality: none Visuals: Good Difficulty: none
Dramatic Effectiveness: none Ease of Interface: so-so

I wrote a review of "The Legend of Lotus Spring" for Time Digital (read it here). Lucky for Dreamcatcher I was only allowed 500 words, because I could have gone on and on about what was wrong with this one. The glitches, the annoying music, the lack of any real forward movement in the "story", the fact that the end cut scene does not end the game, the fact that this came out as a "Woman Wise" production (haven't these new age granola-feminist names died out yet) … this whole thing is just absolutely pathetic.

Glitches:Out of 2 PCs and a Mac I could only get this to run halfway decently on one PC, and I mean halfway. The game wouldn't work until I changed the Quicktime settings. The game had a problem with the animations that can only be fixed by downloading a more recent version of Quicktime than the one released by the game.
