I'm a herpetoculture fanatic. Here are photos of some of my critters:
Australian Bearded Dragons (Pogona vitticeps):
Darwin and Delilah were my first pair of bearded dragons.
Irwin, purchased September 2004. A month later, puffing up. As a 13-inch juvenile; close up; December 2004. NEW
Two female offspring of D&D, hatched November 2000: "Puffy", at 6 months; "Margarita", March 2002.
Some shots of Puffy's clutch of 17 eggs laid 8/03/2002: The father was borrowed from a friend. Nice! The snowflake pattern on this egg is interesting (it hatched just fine). The hatchlings arrived in early October 2002. A "pip", emerging from the egg. Wow! Hatchling, a few hours old. A precocious two-day old Hello! A few more, not so. Lots of week olds.
I kept two of them. "Perci": At one month; 2 months; close-up (4 months). "Amanda": At one month; 2 months; 4 months. P & A, 6 months.
Here is Perci laying her second clutch of eggs, March 2004. One of the hatchlings, 4 days old. Four, a week later. May 2004.
Delilah laying eggs. Eggs during incubation.
More hatchlings: Margarita at one week. Sleeping, while clinging to an electrical cord! Cute!
This is how you get the hatchlings (D&D).
Darwin was a big male. Here he is looking fierce. Darwin at age 7, March 2002. I recently decided to have him euthanized. Delilah was a robust female. She died in July 2001, at age 5, due to complications from egg-binding (dystocia). She produced over 300 eggs.
Northern Blue-Tongued Skinks (Tiliqua scincoides intermedia):
"Link", a hypomelanistic male, born July 2001. Purchased October 2001. Chomping on a superworm; August 2003. Cool! 4 months old. Nice tongue! Here, too. October 2002.
"Patty", a female. Purchased January 2004, approx. 3 years old. More shots, January 2004: Basking; another nice tongue.
Leopard Gecko (Eublepharus macularius): "Lazard", March 2002. Nice! (also on the left). Died November 2003 at age 8.
California Kingsnake (Lampropeltis getula), albino striped phase: "Loopy" Another shot.
Egyptian Tortoise (Testudo kleinmanni), "Cookie". Purchased captive-bred. Died May 2001, cause unknown. Photo from July 2000.
Check out my links page for information on conservation of the endangered Egyptian tortoise.
Nice! A gravid female carpet chameleon (Furcifer lateralis), belonging to a friend. What a beautiful creature!
